Whitefish Montana Ski Trip

Colorado River Emerald Cove/ Hoover Dam (South of Mead)

Black Canyon to Emerald Cove Clear Paddleboard Adventure

Emerald Cove is a breathtaking natural wonder that features crystal clear water in a hidden cave that reflects the light and creates a stunning turquoise hue. The cove is located on the Colorado River near Lake Mead, and it's only accessible by boat or paddleboard. The experience of paddling into the cove and exploring its unique beauty is truly unforgettable, making it a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers.

Paddleboarding through Black Canyon in Lake Mead is a unique and breathtaking experience. The canyon is located in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, which is situated along the Colorado River in Nevada and Arizona. The paddleboarding route starts at the base of the Hoover Dam and meanders for approximately 12 miles through the picturesque Black Canyon.

As you paddle through the canyon, you will be surrounded by towering canyon walls that rise up to 2000 feet above you. The water is crystal clear and a striking turquoise blue, creating a striking contrast against the black volcanic rock formations. Along the way, you will encounter hidden coves, hot springs, and wildlife such as bighorn sheep, ospreys, and great blue herons.

The paddleboarding trip can take anywhere from 4-6 hours, depending on the pace and the number of stops you make. There are several campgrounds along the way, making it possible to spend a night or two and fully immerse yourself in the stunning natural surroundings. The canyon is accessible year-round, although the water can be cooler in the winter months.

Overall, paddleboarding through Black Canyon in Lake Mead is a memorable and unique way to experience the beauty of the desert landscape and the grandeur of the Colorado River.
