Sarah Williams is an owner, instructor, and adventure guide at Desert Paddleboards and AZ Goat Yoga, based in Mesa, AZ. She has been in the fitness industry for over 20 years and majored in Exercise Science at ASU. Sarah is a Registered Yoga teacher, certified Pilates Instructor, Crossfit and Crossfit Kids trainer, level two Parkour coach certified by World Freerunning and Parkour, and a USA Weightlifting Coach. She has a background in synchronized swimming, competing and coaching at several national-level competitions, and has facilitated various swimming programs throughout Arizona. Her passion for open water swimming has led her to swim around Alcatraz Island and the Hudson River 10K in NYC.
Sarah started Desert Paddleboards in 2011, offering stand-up paddleboarding as a great way to connect with friends and enjoy a challenging yet invigorating workout in nature. They have over 50 rental boards, ranging from clear hard boards to inflatable, and also offer kayaks if you prefer to sit. They offer unique Mermaid Paddleboard Bootcamp classes at city pools throughout the Phoenix area, which combine synchro, Crossfit swimming workout, and paddleboard yoga. They even have a SUP Pups class, connecting you and your pup on a paddleboard, and offer private lessons or group outings. Desert Paddleboards is also the only authorized dealer for Rollerblade in Arizona.
As paddleboard classes slowed down in the winter, Sarah teamed up with April Gould, Arizona's Goat Whisperer, to start Arizona Goat Yoga, which has now become a pop culture phenomenon. Sarah and her team also partner with Tahitian Adventures for adventure trips around French Polynesia and Iceland, and they do ladies' ski trips to Montana and Colorado, a great way to connect with friends and ski or snowboard.
Sarah and her team also promote environmental conservation through fitness. They organize Plogging, a hot fitness trend that is good for your body and the Earth, by combining picking up trash with jogging. They also have a rollerblading club that meets once a week for a fun workout while cleaning up trash along the way.
Sarah's adventures have also been featured on several reality shows, including America Ninja Warrior, the Emmy award-winning season of Amazing Race, and the BYU TV show, Survivalist, which they won $10,000. They were also featured on various local news programs with children’s yoga classes, paddleboard fitness classes, Witches Regatta, in-line skating, and even on the cover of Phoenix Magazine. Sarah is truly an inspiration and encourages everyone to try new things and live life to the fullest.
